The Nigerian Ministry of Information said in a statement that Twitter had been shut down indefinitely. Two days before the statement was made, Twitter deleted a tweet from President Muhammad Buhari’s account. His tweet was deleted for violating the rules.

But even after that comment on Friday, Twitter is still active in Nigeria. Segun Adeyemi, a special assistant at the information ministry, told AFP he could not comment on the technicalities. However, the operation of Twitter will be suspended indefinitely.
